This book compares the evolution of the legal systems of Central Asia, Europe, and East Asia, under the impact of economic factors, both structural and crisis-inspired. The COVID-19, one of the severest challenges faced by humanity, alters the social order and the way people think.Already, changes impact the socio-economic and political-legal spheres. Geopolitical and geoeconomic shifts affect the place of states and regions in the world order. The UK’s withdrawal from the EU, superimposed onto the pandemic, inflicted not only political and socio-economic losses but reputational losses as well. It signaled the limits of regional integration if the world’s most successful economic grouping needed to revise its own development. This book analyses three salient international political/legal problems for states and regions of Eurasia: trade and financial issues, regional and interregional issues, industrial and socioeconomic issues. It also looks at the US trade policy towards Eurasia and China, the US military presence in South Korea, the EU experience for the EAEU, as well as WTO issues, etc. It follows Le régionalisme et ses limites (2016), Mutations de société et réponses du droit (2017), On the European and Asian origins of legal and political systems (2018) and The Challenge of change in the legal and political systems of Eurasia and the New Silk Road (2020).

This book is divided into 5 chapters, each dealing with a different aspect of the management of this unprecedented health crisis. The first chapter is devoted to issues of respect for constitutional law and fundamental freedoms in the countries examined focusing on emergency measures. The second chapter deals with Covid management in a comparative study, taking into account intercultural aspects and influences in several areas of economic and social life. The third chapter looks at the secondary effects of pandemic protection measures. These effects have not always been sufficiently taken into account in government decisions. It is only by looking back that we can analyse these consequences. Life during the pandemic was largely reduced to digital life. To some extent, this digitisation has allowed activities to continue, but it has not been without risk. Chapter 4 looks at data protection during this period, the role of the media and the reorganisation of working and industrial relationships. Finally, the last chapter deals with health issues, which were at the heart of Covid's management.

The present publication collects the contributions of the colloquium «How to Become a Lawyer in Europe», which took place on June 4, 2010 in Andorra la Vella – within the frame-work of the 15th annual meeting of the representatives of the Network of European Universities in Legal Studies. We gathered articles concerning not only many European countries but also the United States and a special contribution is made to the system in California (USA). Each part is a unique guide through internal regulations leading to different legal professions. The articles present the academic education system in the field of law and also special requirements and professional exams giving the right/permission to perform legal professions. The reader will see the differences and similarities especially in the European systems of the presented countries.

Eurasia is neither a juxtaposition of sub-regions – Central Asia, West Europe, East Asia – nor a single, coherent legal system. It mixes sui generis evolutions and mutual influences of its constituent systems. The period of Eurasian countries going their own, national(ist) way in building a legal system (Europe before 1950, Central Asia under Soviet rule, East Asia in colonialisms) has yielded to one when no ‘universal’ system applies. Regional mechanisms are mutually inspired, for instance the EU and the EAEU; or the OSCE and the CICA.Chapters are by scholars based in Korea, Kazakhstan, France, China, Russia and Spain. Each sub-region is analysed through a ‘main’ reference (Kazakhstan, France, Korea) and a ‘complementary model’ (Russia, China, Spain), within the context of institutional region-building.CTwo factors accelerate change in Eurasian legal systems: national/regional experiences and evolutions influence each other; the world context (crises, sanctions, wars, trade diplomacy…) push even further : no country (or region) can in isolation devise legal solutions to these challenges.

This volume's contributions highlight the legal practice by Courts through three insightful perspectives. The first one addresses interpretative methods in civil and criminal law, beginning with Germany's Interessenjurisprudenz and its application in German courts. It then reviews the French judicial approach to interpreting civil and criminal texts and explores how the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan handles normative interpretation. The second perspective discusses constitutional control mechanisms, analyzing how the French Constitutional Council uses transitional interpretative reservations, the UK's evolution linked to the Human Rights Act, and the rise of constitutional control in Kazakhstan's legal system. Finally, the third one investigates how domestic courts interact with the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) and examines the handling of double taxation treaties by courts in Kazakhstan and Russia.
