Elements in Genocide Studies – serie

The Armenian Genocide in Global Context analyzes the global response to the Armenian Genocide using archival materials and current scholarship. It relies on official reports, correspondence, and testimonials from survivors and aid workers to tell a more complete story of what happened and assess the international community's response to the Armenian Genocide up to the present day. The narrative centers on the lived experience of genocide in the context of humanitarian and diplomatic engagement with the long history of the Armenian Question. Themes include: the pre-history of the genocide; the humanitarian response; failed attempts to prosecute perpetrators and survivor experiences. The final section traces the legacy of the Armenian Genocide and the campaigns for genocide awareness in the face of politically-motivated denialist campaigns. Included throughout are maps, survivor testimony, an interactive digital resource and archival images of deportations, aid workers and survivors.
