Silvia Federici argues that, no less than the witch hunts in sixteenth and seventeenth century, the new war on women is a structural element of the new forms of capitalist accumulation. These processes are founded on the destruction of people's most basic means of reproduction. Like at the dawn of capitalism, what we discover behind today's violence against women are processes of enclosure, land dispossession, and the remoulding of women's reproductive activities and subjectivity. As well as an investigation into the causes of this new violence, the book is also a feminist call to arms.

One hundred years after his death, Peter Kropotkin is still one of the most inspirational figures of the anarchist movement. His message is clear: solidarity is strength! Every page of this new edition of Mutual Aid has been beautifully illustrated by one of anarchism's most celebrated current artists, N.O. Bonzo. The reader will also enjoy original artwork by GATS and insightful commentary by David Graeber, Ruth Kinna, Andrej Grubacic, and Allan Antliff.

An edited collection Silvia Federici's work, spanning over twenty years, in which she provides a detailed history and critique of the politics of the commons from a feminist perspective. In her clear and combative voice, Federici provides readers with an analysis of some of the key issues and debates in contemporary thinking on this subject. Drawing on rich historical research, she maps the connections between the previous forms of enclosure that occurred with the birth of capitalism and the destruction of the commons and the 'new enclosures' at the heart of the present phase of global capitalist accumulation.

Organising is full of challenges and dilemmas. How do you decide who to talk to, if your co-workers all seem scared or apathetic? What if you invite people to a meeting and no one comes? What should you do when your organising committee is splitting apart? What if your own union leaders break your heart? This book will help you evaluate any situation and find a way forward. Drawing on a half century of experiences in training and advising thousands of workplace activists, Ellen David Friedman teaches four essential principles and four basic ingredients of organising. She shows how to apply these principles and ingredients to familiar situations and invites you to rethink common missteps. You'll start to see how you can get yourself unstuck, no matter what situation you're in. Eight featured true stories of workplace organizers bring the ideas to life, gorgeously illustrated by Fernando Marti.

Francisco Ferrer navigated a tempestuous world of anarchist assassins, radical republican conspirators, anticlerical rioters, and freethinking educators to establish the legendary Escuela Moderna and the Modern School movement that his martyrdom propelled around the globe. This is the first historical reader to gather together his writings on rationalist education, revolutionary violence, and the general strike (most translated into English for the first time) and put them into conversation with the letters, speeches, and articles of his comrades, collaborators, and critics.

In the early 1970s, all across the Americas and Western Europe, armed groups emerged out of the social movements of the late 1960s. Their goal was to advance the struggle for a socialist society. In Germany, the Red Army Faction received most attention, but a less well-known, anti-authoritarian and social-revolutionary counterpart operated in its shadows: the 2nd of June Movement, named after the date when, in 1967, the unarmed student Benno Ohnesorg was shot and killed by a Berlin cop during a demonstration. The 2nd of June Movement was comprised of working-class youth who got politicized in Berlin's underground culture. They first emerged as a political collective under the name 'Hash Rebels,' before they formed the 2nd of June Movement as a revolutionary organization. The 2nd of June Movement received most attention for the 1975 kidnapping of conservative politician Peter Lorenz. Lorenz was exchanged for six comrades in prison, one of the biggest successes of any urban guerrilla group in Europe. Dissolved in 1980, the principles of the 2nd of June Movement lived on in the militant network of the Revolutionary Cells and the German autonomist movement. From Hash Rebels to Urban Guerrillas is the first book presenting the 2nd of June Movement in English. It documents the group's history and politics based on translations of original documents and reflections by former members. The editors provide an introduction, extensive notes, a timeline, and an overview of key protagonists. This is mandatory reading for anyone interested in the politics of the era and the ongoing quest to challenge the rule of the state and capital.

More than ever, the 'body' is today at the centre of radical and institutional politics. Feminist, antiracist, trans and ecological movementsall look at the body as a ground of confrontation with the state and a vehicle for transformative social practices. Concurrently, the body has become a signifier for the reproduction crisis the neoliberal turn in capitalist development has generated and for the international surge in institutional repression and public violence. Here, Silvia Federici examines these complex processes, placing them in the context of the history of the capitalist transformation of the body into a work-machine.

A gothic horror tale of severe mental distress and punk rock, The Primal Screamer is written in the form of a diary kept by a psychiatrist, Dr. Rodney H. Dweller, concerning his patient, Nathaniel Snoxell, brought to him in 1979 after a series of attempted suicides. Snoxell gets involved in the nascent UK anarcho-punk scene, recording and playing gigs in squatted anarchist centres. In 1985, the good doctor himself 'goes insane' and disappears. This semi-autobiographical novel by singer, guitarist, lyricist and illustrator Nick Blinko features his unique artwork.

With poetic fervour, journalist Gabriel San Roman delves into the strikes and forgotten martyrs of the labour movement to expose the fetid underbelly of exploitation. In a subverted 'this day in history' format and rising from San Roman's Subversive Historian commentaries on Pacifica Radio, a story is told for every day of the year with poignant vignettes about protests - no matter how big or small. Uprisings of enslaved Africans and abolitionists confronting the scourge of slavery, brave Black youth challenging Jim Crow segregation, Indigenous peoples resisting colonial America's encroachments, Mexican women organizing labour strikes in the Southwest, antiwar protesters marching for peace, and much more. Arriving at a time when history from below faces relentless attacks from above, these stories span centuries and recount the everyday bravery of people organizing for a world free of hate and exploitation. In these pages, history stands firmly where no markers remember massacres disguised as race riots, where the voiceless speak for themselves, and those at the margins of movements demand dignity within them. For every reader who is a worker, student, activist, or is just frustrated by the status quo, Days of Dissent offers one simple suggestion: Read, remember, rebel!

The argument of this book is that an anarchist society, a society which organises itself without authority, is always in existence. Through a wide-ranging analysis - drawing on examples from education, urban planning, welfare, housing, the environment, the workplace, and the family, to name but a few - Colin Ward demonstrates that the roots of anarchist practice are not so alien or quixotic as they might at first seem but lie precisely in the ways that people have always tended to organise themselves when left alone to do so.

This is the untold story of the Russian Revolution: its antecedents, its far-reaching changes, its betrayal by Bolshevik terror, and the massive resistance of non-Bolshevik revolutionaries. This in-depth, eyewitness history written by Voline, an outspoken activist in the Russian Revolution, pays significant attention to what the author describes as 'struggles for the real Social Revolution'; that is, the uprising of the sailors and workers of Kronstadt in 1921, and the peasant movement that Nestor Makhno led in Ukraine. These movements, which sought to defend the social revolution from destruction by the politicians, provide important material for a clearer understanding of both the original objectives of the Russian Revolution and the problems with which all revolutions with far-reaching social objectives have to contend.

Remembering the Armed Struggle, Schiller recounts the process through which she joined her generation's revolt in the 1960s. She tells of how she met and worked alongside the RAF's founding members, Ulrike Meinhof, Andreas Baader, Jan-Carl Raspe, Irmgard Mêller, and Holger Meins; how she learned the details of the May Offensive and other actions while in her prison cell; about the struggles to defend human dignity in the most degraded of environments, and the relationships she forged with other women in prison.

This selection, spanning six decades, traces the development of a new political perspective that would set out to redefine traditional views of the class struggle. James' starting point was the millions of unwaged women who, despite working at home and on land, were not seen as 'workers'. For her, the class struggle is the the conflict between the reproduction of the human race and the domination of a exploitative, detructive and war driven market. This lucid and jargon free read springs from the author's urgent need to find a better way forward.

From its working-class roots to commercialisation and resistance to it - this is football history for the politically conscious fan. Football is a multi-billion pound industry. Professionalism and commercialisation dominate its global image. Yet the game retains a rebellious side, maybe more so than any other sport co-opted by money-makers and corrupt politicians. Soccer vs. The State traces its amazing history.

They were unlike any other band in the punk scene they called home. NoMeansNo started in the basement of the family home of brothers Rob and John Wright in 1979. For the next three decades, they would add and then replace a guitar player, sign a record deal with Alternative Tentacles and tour the world. All along the way, they kept their integrity, saying 'NO' to many mainstream opportunities. It was for this reason the band (intentionally) never became a household name, but earned the respect and love of thousands of fans around the world, including some who became big rock stars themselves. They were expertly skilled musicians playing a new kind of punk: intelligent, soulful, hilarious, and complex. They were also really nice Canadian dudes. NoMeansNo: From Obscurity to Oblivion is the fully authorised oral and visual history of this highly influential and enigmatic band which has never been told before now. Author Jason Lamb obtained exclusive access to all four former members and interviewed hundreds of people in their orbit, from managers and roadies to fellow musicians, friends, and family members. The result is their complete story, from the band's inception in 1979 to their retirement in 2016, along with hundreds of photos, posters, and memorabilia, much of which has never been seen publicly before. For established fans, this book serves as a 'love letter' to their favourite group and provides many details previously unknown. For those curious about the story and influence of NoMeansNo, it reveals an eye-opening tale of how a punk band could be world-class musicians while truly 'doing it themselves.' Their impact and importance cannot be overstated, and NoMeansNo: From Obscurity to Oblivion is the essential archive.

Marx's Critique of the Gotha Program is a revelation. It offers the fullest elaboration of his vision for a communist future, free from the shackles of capital, but also the state. Neglected by the statist versions of socialism, whether Social Democratic or Stalinist that left a wreckage of coercion and disillusionment in their wake, this new annotated translation of Marx's Critique makes clear for the first time the full emancipatory scope of Marx's notion of life after capitalism. An erudite new introduction by Peter Hudis plumbs the depth of Marx's argument, elucidating how his vision of communism, and the transition to it, was thoroughly democratic. At a time when the rule of capital is being questioned and challenged, this volume makes an essential contribution to a real alternative to capitalism, rather than piecemeal reforms. In the twenty-first century, when it has never been more needed, here is Marx at his most liberatory.

Imagine a capitalist paradise. An island utopia governed solely by the rules of the market and inspired by the fictions of Ayn Rand and Robinson Crusoe. Your own private archipelago. Sound far-fetched? It may not be. The past half-century is littered with the remains of such experiments in what Raymond Craib calls 'libertarian exit'. Often dismissed as little more than the dreams of crazy, rich Caucasians or - in the words of libertarian godfather Murray Rothbard - 'cockamamie stunts,' exit strategies were tried out from the southwest Pacific to the Caribbean, from the North Sea to the high seas, and often with dire consequences for local inhabitants. Taking the activities of Nevada libertarian, land developer, and coin dealer Michael Oliver as a case in point, and based on research in archives in the US, the UK, and Vanuatu, as well as in FBI files acquired through the Freedom of Information Act, Craib explores in careful detail the ideology and practice of libertarian exit and its place in the histories of contemporary capitalism, decolonization, empire, and oceans and islands. Adventure Capitalism rewrites Oliver's story as a global history, one that intersects with an array of figures: Fidel Castro and the Koch brothers, American segregationists and Melanesian socialists, Honolulu-based real estate speculators and British Special Branch spies, soldiers of fortune and English lords, Orange County engineers and Tongan navigators, CIA operatives and CBS news executives, and a new breed of techno-utopians and an old guard of Honduran coup leaders. His story, in other words, is a history of our time. Given the new iterations of privatized exit now being pursued - seasteads, free private cities, and space colonization - it may also be a history of our future.
