    Beskrivning

The Collins Cambridge International AS & A Level English Language Student’s Book helps students build and apply skills and knowledge. With in-depth topic coverage and a stimulating range of international texts, this is the ideal companion to the Cambridge International AS & A Level English Language syllabus (9093) for examination from 2029.We are working towards endorsement of this title for the Cambridge Pathway to support the full Cambridge International AS & A Level English Language syllabus (9093) for examination from 2029.This second edition has been updated to align with the revised syllabus and assessment, with a new chapter on practising all skills. It includes a refreshed selection of texts from around the world.· Supports the transition from upper secondary: Section A refreshes students’ understanding of key concepts such as audience, purpose and form, and of elements of language including sentences and clauses.· Develops writing and analysis skills for AS and A Level: Section B introduces students to different modes of analysis, including contextual, pragmatic, lexical, semantic, grammatical and phonological approaches, and familiarises students with the conventions of different writing forms and purposes.· Brings AS skills together: Section C is a new chapter that builds key skills such as understanding the question and writing for different purposes. It brings together the skills learned across the previous sections to enhance understanding with further practice, including two complete practice papers.· Explores the syllabus topics in depth: Section D covers the broader skills needed at A Level, then explores the four A Level language topics in depth. A detailed chapter on each topic introduces the relevant linguistic theories and will help students begin to apply these ideas in their own arguments and analysis of texts, transcriptions and data.· Builds confidence with structured support: Section E offers step-by-step support for responding to a range of tasks. Sample responses are provided to help assess and improve work, and the section concludes with two complete practice papers.· Encourages an active approach to learning: throughout the book, a wealth of activities asks students to discuss, analyse and apply the ideas they are learning about, and to experiment with different techniques in their own writing.· A rich variety of texts from around the world: these provide exciting models for students’ writing, engaging examples to analyse, and stimulus for debates about language change, language acquisition, the relationship between language and identity and the nature of Global English.· Supportive for all students: an accessible writing style, step-by-step support, annotated sample answers and clear definitions of key terms build confidence.· Flexible support for teachers: free, editable medium-term plans available to download, enabling educators to plan and personalise the course. Answers to activities in the Student’s Book are included to assist those teaching the qualification for the first time. The Collins course consists of a Student’s Book, with teacher planning resources available online and through the digital subscription on Collins Hub. The teacher planning resources will not go through the endorsement process for the Cambridge Pathway.
