MASAHISA FUJITA has been a major contributor to spatial economic theory during his 20-year tenure at the University of Pennsylvania and more recently at Kyoto University since 1995, where he has served as Director of the Institute of Economic Research. His scholarship ranges over the fields related to regional science, location theory, economic geography, urban economics, and spatial economics.
