PATRICIA GRIMSHAW is Max Crawford Professor of History at the University of Melbourne. She is author of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand, Paths of Duty: American Missionary Wives in Nineteenth Century Hawaii and co-author of Creating a Nation as well as several edited collections. She has served as President of the International Federation of Research in Women's History from 1995-2000. - KATIE HOLMES is Senior Lecturer in History and Women's Studies at LaTrobe University, Melbourne. She is the author of Spaces in Her Day: Australian Women's Diaries of the 1920s and 1930s. - MARILYN LAKE is Professor of History at LaTrobe University, Melbourne. Her publications include Getting Equal: The History of Australian Feminism and she is co-author, with Patricia Grimshaw, of Creating a Nation.
