WERNER BONEFELD is Lecturer in the Department of Politics, University of York. His previous works include Post-Fordism and Social Form (co-editor), Open Marxism (3 volumes; co-editor), A Major Crisis (co-author) and The Politics of Change (co-editor). He is the author of The Recomposition of the British State during the 1980s.
