Haunting Questions of Liberation Theology

Jione Havea is a Methodist pastor from Tonga, senior research fellow in religious and Moana studies at Trinity Methodist Theological College (Aotearoa New Zealand) and adjunct professor in biblical and cultural studies at Charles Sturt University (Australia). He is the author of numerous books, most recently Stirring Up Liberation Theologies.

While theologies are never finished and always evolving, there is a remarkable resilience of themes of liberation that refuse to go away because exploitation, dominance, and oppression refuse to go away. As a result, the big question of what we are up against must be raised with new vigor in the age of what some of us have called the Capitalocene.
