    Beskrivning

Navigating Tuberculosis: Insights into Host-Pathogen Protein Interactions, the latest release in the Foundations and Frontiers in Enzymology series, explores the interactions between host proteins and the tuberculosis pathogen, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb), emphasizing their roles in virulence and pathogenesis. The book delves into mechanistic insights, focusing on their roles in modulating innate and adaptive immunity and understanding TB pathomechanisms by elucidating the interplay between host defenses and M. tb infection. It provides a foundation for developing targeted mitigation strategies and discusses key regulatory pathways and protein factors involved in host-pathogen interactions, informing the design and implementation of innovative approaches to combat TB.

This comprehensive volume aims to advance knowledge and strategies to combat tuberculosis, aligning with the World Health Organization's goal of eradicating TB by 2035 by addressing the need for up-to-date information on host-pathogen interactions in tuberculosis and incorporating the latest research findings and advancements. It highlights emerging therapeutic targets among host and TB pathogen proteins and integrates multidisciplinary approaches from microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology, offering a holistic perspective on TB pathophysiology. Researchers will find detailed discussions on key host proteins involved in tuberculosis pathogenesis, the molecular tactics employed by M. tb to subvert host defenses, and host-mediated inhibition strategies targeting M. tb.

. Provides comprehensive insights into the complex interactions between host proteins and the tuberculosis pathogen, revealing essential aspects of tuberculosis pathophysiology
. Investigates the latest discoveries and breakthroughs in the field, presented by prominent authorities, to uncover innovative approaches for diagnosing and treating tuberculosis, including novel therapeutic targets
. Offers a multidisciplinary perspective that combines insights from microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, and molecular biology, fostering a comprehensive understanding of host-pathogen interactions in tuberculosis
. Highlights cutting-edge research on key host and pathogen proteins involved in tuberculosis, offering detailed discussions on their roles in modulating innate and adaptive immunity

Dr. Mohd Shariq, Ph.D., obtained his doctoral degree in Biological Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, focusing on Cellular and Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases. He has authored 30 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals like Autophagy, Journal of Medical Virology, European Respiratory Review, and Frontiers in Immunology. Dr. Shariq has mentored numerous students in independent research projects and is joining GITAM University, Hyderabad, as an Assistant Professor, bringing extensive expertise in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Microbiology. Previously, as a Senior Scientist and Group Leader at QuantLase Imaging Laboratory, he published four research articles in reputed international journals such as Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters (Springer). His research on host-pathogen interactions in tuberculosis and the role of M. tb proteins in inflammation and autophagy regulation has significantly advanced the understanding of TB pathomechanisms. Additionally, his insights into drug resistance mechanisms in Candida albicans and Helicobacter pylori infections have enriched our understanding of microbial pathogenesis. Dr. Shariq serves as an acting reviewer for esteemed journals like Frontiers, Scientific Reports, and others, and acts as a review editor for Gut Pathogens and Frontiers. Professor Seyed E. Hasnain is a distinguished figure in tuberculosis research, specializing in infection biology and functional epidemiology. His groundbreaking contributions have earned him international recognition and a multitude of prestigious awards, including the Robert Koch Fellowship in Berlin, Membership of the American Academy of Microbiology, and induction into the German National Academy of Sciences-Leopoldina. He is also a Fellow of TWAS (Italy) and all major Indian Science Academies (FNA/FASc/FNASc). Prof. Hasnain's accolades further include the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award, the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the GD Birla Award, and the JC Bose Fellowship. With a distinguished career spanning decades, Prof. Hasnain has served in various esteemed roles. Notably, he was a member of the Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India for two terms (2004-2014), the inaugural Director of the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics in Hyderabad, and subsequently the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad from 2005 to 2011, and the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University (2016-2021). He also held the esteemed position of invited Prof. at IIT-Delhi from 2011 to 2019. Presently, Prof. Hasnain serves as a National Science Chair at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D), and is also a Distinguished Professor at Sharda University. Professor Nasreen Z.
