      Non-Destructive Testing and Structural Health Monitoring Methods for Additive Manufactured Polymers provides a complete overview of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and structural health monitoring (SHM) methods for additive manufactured (AM) polymers, both with and without fiber reinforcement. Methods for additive manufacturing of polymers are outlined, including modified fused deposition and selective laser sintering, and the book also discusses structural properties' fracture behavior and other mechanics of the polymers produced. The book then segues into specific NDT and SHM methods best used for evaluating AM polymers, such as THz spectroscopy, microcomputer tomography, ultrasonic methods, fiber optic techniques, and vibration-based methods. The structural differences between polymers produced via AM and those produced via traditional manufacturing techniques are considered as well, and the book also includes insight on methods of embedding sensors in AM structures both during and after the printing process.

      Magdalena Mieloszyk is an associate professor at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN), where she has been since 2006, earning her PhD in Mechanics in 2011 and DSc in 2019 from the same institute. She collaborates with various scientific institutions, including Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania on additive manufacturing composites with embedded FBG sensors, Aarhus University in Denmark on thin metamaterials for lightweight structures, and Hohai University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University in China on 3D Laser Scanning Vibrometers. Additional collaborations include research on fibre optic sensors with the Institutul National de Fizica Laserilor, Plasmei si Radiatiilor in Romania, THz spectrometry with the University of Arizona, and structural analysis of sailing vessels and helicopters with Gdynia Maritime University and the Air Force Institute of Technology in Warsaw. Mieloszyk participates in 15 national and 8 international projects, leading one international and three national scientific projects as well as two educational projects. She is a co-author of a monograph, eight chapters in monographs, 35 international journal papers, and 42 international conference presentations, with an h-index of 17/15/15 in Google Scholar, WoS, and Scopus, respectively. Her research interests include structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing methods, applications of fibre optic sensors (particularly fibre Bragg grating sensors) for monitoring both metallic and composite structures, THz spectroscopy for damage detection, infrared thermography, signal processing algorithms for damage analysis, and additive manufacturing of polymers and fibre-reinforced composites. Michal K. Budzik is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering at Aarhus University, where he has been since 2012, after obtaining his PhD in Material Engineering from Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland in 2010. He has worked for the LEGO Group in Billund, Denmark, in Materials R&D during 2022-2023 and was a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2021. Prior to his current role, he was employed at the Institute for Engineering and Materials, CNRS in Bordeaux, France, from 2010 to 2012. Budzik collaborates with various scientific institutions, including the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences on thin metamaterials for lightweight structures, the University of Edinburgh on the failure of 3D-printed composites, the University of Pennsylvania on the influence of material architecture on fracture process zones, Vestas Aircoil in Denmark on hybrid woven composites with fiber-matrix debonding, Delft University of Technology on multi-material adhesive joints, and the University of Bordeaux on adhesion issues. He is involved in three European projects (CERTBOND, HISTRATE, Indestruct) and has published over 60 research articles, with an h-index of 20/17/17 in Google Scholar, WoS, and Scopus, respectively. His scientific interests primarily include mechanics of composites, architected materials, adhesion, and fracture mechanics.
