    The Total Safety Factor Method for Tunnel Support Structure Design systematically discusses the entire process of mining tunnel design, including: analysis of surrounding rock self-stability; identification of local support and system support; calculation of rock pressure design value; load structure model and total safety factor calculation method of multi-layer support structure; deformation calculation method of support structure; integrated design method of support strength-deformation-timing; and the dynamic adjustment method based on on-site deformation monitoring. It also presents the inspection and verification tests of total safety factor method and specific engineering application cases. The theoretical system of total safety factor method described in this book has broken through the design bottleneck of tunnel support structures that have long relied on engineering analogy methods. The The Total Safety Factor Method provides the basic theoretical guidance for the quantitative design, dynamic adjustment and intelligent construction of mining tunnel support structures. The book is based on the many years of experience of the team led by the author of this book: Xiao Mingqing. Professor Ming's team has been involved in the design of nearly 20% of the high-speed railway tunnels and 50% of large-diameter underwater shield tunnels in China, with a total design mileage of 4,000km.

    Professor Xiao Mingqing is Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is also the Chief Expert of the China Railway Construction Corporation, Chief Engineer of theChina Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group Co. Ltd,and Director of the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Underwater Tunneling Technology. His research interests include the design and technical research and development of tunnel and underground engineering. As a major pioneer of tunnelling in China, he has led the design of more than 70 underwater tunnel, such as the Nanjing Yangtze River Tunnel, Wuhan Yangtze River Tunnel and Shiziyang Tunnel of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway
