Landmarks

A journey in fifty buildings across every region of Asia, the world’s largest and most dynamic continent, through groundbreaking projects by some of the world’s foremost architects. Asia – the world’s largest and most dynamic continent – is redefining architecture and its cultural, social and ecological impact in the 21st century. This book is a journey across every region of the continent through fifty groundbreaking projects by some of the world’s foremost architects, including OMA’s iconic CCTV Headquarters in Beijing, and the much-loved Tokyo Toilet redevelopment project. Landmarks is divided into four chapters: ‘Defining Identities’, ‘Embracing Nature’, ‘Building Communities’ and ‘Regenerating Heritage’. The featured projects span more than twenty countries across Asia, ranging from urban icons in the continent’s megacities to rehabilitation projects in rural areas. Together, these works also represent Asia’s recent urban and architectural transformation, the forces that have empowered its growth, and how the region is changing the world.
