Beskrivning
Relatively little is known about how regional integration affects poverty. Many suggest that increased investment would be one of the benefits of agreeing on regional integration provisions but this has not been put to the empirical test for South-South integration. This volume examines the channels through which regional integration affects poverty and empirically analyzes the effects on foreign direct investment.

Recensioner i media

'This book is one of the first attempts ever to study the direct and indirect consequences of regional integration for poverty. It argues that regional integration can contribute to poverty reduction only if the integration processes go beyond trade and investment and include regional public goods. A must-read for all those interested in the social and developmental dimensions of regional integration.' Luk Van Langenhove, Director of the United Nations University Comparative Regional Integration Studies centre (UNU-CRIS), Belgium
