This book is a must-read for any serious student of Gnosticism of the antiquity. It contains an overview and an analysis of all major groups, based on the Heresiologist statements and their own known literature, and a critical assessment of the Heresiologists statement about the groups. What would be a handy addition in a future edition, would be a short summary of the analysis, their possible origins and their beliefs - as it is now I have to scan an entire chapter to find a suggestion. In a few instances Pearson makes what would perhaps be a hasty conclusion, but in general the statements appears to be reliable and a best synthesis of the given facts.
