Mer om författaren
Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) was one of the most important figures in nineteenth-century Europe, spending three decades in British government and twice serving as prime minister, as well as being a well-known literary figure. A convert to Anglicanism, he was Britain's first and thus far only Prime Minister of Jewish heritage. M.G. Wiebe is general editor emeritus of the Disraeli Project and was a professor of English at Queen's University.
Recensioner i media
'Toronto's new volume deserves a hearty cheer. ...it is beautifully produced, maintaining the exceptional standards set by its predecessors.'- Jane Ridley (The Spectator) 'Here, meticulously edited and splendidly presented, are 600 letters for the period 1848-51, accompanied by a wealth of supplementary information in footnotes.'- Jonathan Parry (TLS) 'One runs out of superlatives to describe the scrupulous and informative editing.'- R.W. Davis (Victorian Periodicals Review) 'Impeccably edited - I found no errors of even the slightest kind - and exhaustively, but never exhaustingly, annotated, this volume deserves Disraelian superlatives....these volumes...are becoming by virtue of their scholarship essential reference books on Victorian politics, society, and literature.'- Christopher Kent (English Studies in Canada)
