    Beskrivning

Writers spanning genre and geography come together to show the strength and diversity of Florida’s literary landscape todayIn recent years, a rising generation of Florida writers has joined forces with established legends to create a literary renaissance. All This Beauty introduces this community, making the case that Elizabeth Bishop’s “state with the prettiest name” is also one of the best at producing and nurturing talent. This book demonstrates the depth and extent of Florida’s literary genius.Edited by Kristen Arnett and P. Scott Cunningham, this expansive anthology brings together poems, short fiction, and essays from 66 writers. Yael Valencia Aldana, Derrick Austin, Frankie de la Cretaz, Patricia Engel, Dionne Irving, Amy Suzanne Parker, Avni Vyas, and many others conjure widely varying experiences of the state, from Gulf beaches to South Florida nightlife, from muscadine grapevines to college gamedays and Major League Baseball. Together, they present a Florida that is more than the stereotypes of “weird” or “wild”—it is messier, deeper, and far more compelling. This anthology shows that between the headlines, Florida writers continue to affirm the beauty, complexity, and culture that make the state unique. In these pages, people who truly love Florida claim the privilege of defining it. All This Beauty invites readers to see Florida as its contributors do: a place of contradiction and connection, alive with imagination and possibility.Funding for this publication was provided through a grant from Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Recensioner i media

“An instant Florida classic, full of wild, tender, and heartfelt poems and stories. From riding alligators through apocalyptic wastelands to cruising for lovers around water fountains in Miami malls to finding shelter from hurricanes in motel hallways, the pages of this anthology pulse with all the gorgeous, irrepressible life that exists across the state. All This Beauty is a tribute to anyone who has been shaped by the Sunshine State. I’ve been waiting for this book my whole life.”—Edgar Gomez, author of Alligator Tears“All This Beauty not only reflects the variety of communities in the state but also showcases writers at varying levels of their career and represents many ways of being Floridian. The generosity of this anthology is in the spirit of Florida’s literary table, which always has room for one more. Florida is an ever-evolving place, and All This Beauty brings its own diverse and vibrant version of the state to the scene.”—Chantel Acevedo, author of The Living Infinite“Striking in its range and diversity—of both forms and voices, experience and heritage. Moving fluidly from prose to poetry and back again, All This Beauty offers a kaleidoscopic overview of a literature that is equally vibrant and provocative. We are introduced to a panoply of voices and experiences, and to read them together is to see how they add up to something larger than any of them alone.”—David L. Ulin, author of The Lost Art of Reading: Books and Resistance in a Troubled Time
