The fourteen papers collected in this volume cover topics such as the measurements of GDR economic performance, GDR society's perception of the United States, pseudo-Marxism in the GDR and Eastern Europe, work and science and technology progress in the GDR, social and cultural changes in lives of GDR women, and male and female identities in recent GDR literature.
