Nine Drops of Turpentine

Steeped in womanism—specifically the reproductive continuum—and alternative, ancestral pathways to healing, Nine Drops of Turpentine weaves matrilineage, motherhood, grief, pleasure, and rites of passage in relation to the body through a Black ecopoetic lens. Written in the aftermath of the overturn of Roe vs. Wade, this powerful collection explores the history of gynecology and its horrors, while critiquing the ethics and care of the modern American birthing system.
