Applications of High-Power Microwaves

Covers the important research into relativistic microwave electronics that has been done over the past two decades - advances which have greatly enhanced both the peak power and the average power capabilities of microwave oscillators and amplifiers, especially at millimetre wavelengths. Applications include local plasma heating and current drive in controlled thermonuclear fusion reactors; enhancing capabilities of advanced radar and communication systems; and atmospheric modifications including rebuilding the ozone layer. This work should be useful for the research and development community in high power microwaves, radar, materials processing, controlled thermonuclear fusion, accelerator engineering, meteorology and environmental engineering. It is suitable for graduate students in electrical engineering.
