Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Procedures

Laura and Rachael are both diplomats of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Laura works as a lecturer and clinician at the university teaching hospital of the Royal Veterinary College, London and Rachael works as a clinician and postgraduate training support officer at a private referral hospital, The Ralph, Buckinghamshire, UK. They met in 2017 during their Emergecy and Critical Care (ECC) residency at the Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals, Royal Veterinary College, and have been friends ever since.Prior to joining a multidisciplinary team as part of their residency training program Laura and Rachael both worked sole charge in primary care practice. They have experienced what it is like to work with minimal support and can empathise with the challenge experienced by clinicians working alone, or without guidance from more experienced colleagues. Performing time sensitive, ECC procedures without support or guidance is a challenge that can cause significant stress, and typically these procedures never go to plan!
