    Beskrivning

Profitable Film Producing teaches filmmakers how to approach a movie as both a creative project and a business. From evaluating story ideas and building realistic budgets to completing a market-ready film designed to maximize ROI without compromising creativity.Throughout this book, executive producer Scott Kirkpatrick pulls back the curtain on independent filmmaking. Drawing on over two decades of experience in distribution, financing, and development, Kirkpatrick reveals how successful producers evaluate and strategize projects long before the cameras roll. Focused specifically on the sub-$1 million market—including films produced below $200,000!—the book moves beyond Hollywood myths to examine how independent filmmakers create commercially viable projects within real-world financial constraints. Readers will learn how to evaluate movies through a market lens, develop production-ready screenplays, approach investors, and navigate distribution agreements. Along the way, Kirkpatrick provides plain-spoken explanations of the financial, legal, and practical realities of the independent film marketplace, giving readers a foundation for making informed decisions. Filled with real-world examples, practical checklists and sample agreements, Profitable Film Producing bridges the gap between creative filmmaking and business. This book is designed for emerging filmmakers, producers, industry professionals, investors, educators, and students seeking to better understand the commercial side of independent film. Covering traditional filmmaking alongside evolving areas such as vertical storytelling and AI-supported production. The book provides practical knowledge for anyone looking to develop, finance, produce, and distribute films—and build a track record of projects that are not only finished, but profitable.
