Beskrivning

Digital transformations are reconfiguring our understanding of territory and reshaping how we experience place and space. Digital Territorialities rethinks digitality through the lens of territoriality, examining how formations across material and mediated environments both shape and are shaped by existing power relations. Drawing on case studies spanning the Middle East, the book captures the uneven processes through which spatial authority is produced and negotiated among infrastructures, states, markets, and publics. These processes generate techno-cultural geographies in which technological systems and sociocultural logics converge, entangling the physical with the symbolic and the local with the transnational. Combining theoretical insight with empirical analysis, the book traces these dynamics across cultural and creative industries and platform economies, showing how access, circulation, and control are organized. Digital Territorialities positions the Middle East as a critical site for rethinking the spatial politics of digitality within and beyond the Global South.
