Network Organization and Human Connection

This timely book addresses the diminishing genuine connections between individuals in an age of digital hyperconnectivity. Giuseppe Modarelli and Hans Rüdiger Kaufmann propose a network organizational model as a practical roadmap for fostering responsible, sustainable relationships and building resilience.Examining network organizations as social constructs, Modarelli and Kaufmann emphasize the need to recognize atavistic models and the concept of agapic love in enhancing cooperative relationships. They assess issues such as emotional disconnection, relational aridity and other pathological situations not from a medical perspective, but as challenges that need to be faced through policy, organization and networking. With insights from research interviews as well as in-depth thematic analysis, chapters evaluate the organizational structures of the past and their application in today’s society. By co-constructing fruitful and perpetual generative-value dynamics, the book confronts increasingly isolated, but hyperconnected individuals and collective realities with a focus on atavistic social architectures. They discover that contemporary societal distortion can be resolved by drawing on the network organizational model.Providing a thorough assessment of the importance of networks for both businesses and society, this book is an essential guide for scholars and students of management and organizational studies. HR practitioners and business leaders will find discussions on improving working relationships and building effective organizational cultures invaluable.
