The author or coauthor of five books and over 60 professional papers and the coeditor of two books, he is a member of the American Mathematical Society and the Romanian Mathematical Society. Dr. Pavel, a recipient of the Simion Stoilov Award from the Romanian Academy of Sciences, received the Ph.D. degree (1972) from the University of Ia????i, Romania.
