Beskrivning
Rooted in an awareness of Christianity’s global and gendered complexity, this volume explores how women’s experiences, theologies, and practices continue to redefine the contours of World Christianity. While women constitute the majority of Christian adherents worldwide, much remains to be said about their contributions as the field of World Christianity navigates the demographic shift from the Global North to the Global South. This volume addresses that gap by asking how women shape the contemporary and future global Christian landscape and how gender informs theoretical, analytical, and methodological debates within the field.Featuring writers from five continents, this volume prioritizes new theoretical and methodological frontiers at the intersection of gender, power, agency, and lived experience. Chapters reconstruct historiographies, expand contextual understandings of Christianity’s polycentricity, and propose new conceptual directions within the field of World Christianity. This book’s contributions foreground women’s voices, experiences, and epistemologies in reimagining the global Christian landscape. These essays deconstruct assumed conclusions, reconfigure historiography, and imagine new pathways for scholarly engagement on women in World Christianity.
