Johnson and Kring continue to bring to light cutting-edge research, which they balance against clinical understanding. Throughout, they strive to provide clear prose, helpful examples of clinical cases to illustrate symptoms and treatments, and up-to-date scientific coverage of issues that are front and center in current media such as opioids and vaping, and digital mental health. With a shorter, more focused text, the authors give learners a solid foundation in psychopathology. They emphasize an integrative approach, showing how psychopathology is best understood by considering multiple perspectives—biological, cognitive, behavioral, and socio-emotional—and how these varying perspectives can provide us with the clearest accounting of the causes of these disorders.
