Explores Anglo-American economic diplomacy in South America during the Second World WarThomas Mills explores Anglo-American relations in the previously neglected region of South America during the Second World War to add a new dimension to our understanding of the two powers. He shows how these relations followed a very different pattern to the high-level discussions concerning the economic shape of the post-war world that were going on at the same time. In this way, he highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding of the broader process of Anglo-American economic diplomacy.

Thomas C. Mills is a Lecturer in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at Lancaster University. His previous publications include "Anglo-American Economic Diplomacy during the Second World War and the Electrification of the Central Brazilian Railway", Diplomacy and Statecraft, (March 2009), and "The 'Hemisphere Isolationists' and Anglo-American Economic Diplomacy during the Second World War", Journal of Transatlantic Studies, (March 2011). He gained his PhD from Brunel University in 2010.
