Quantum Mechanics: Theory and Applications

Globally, Quantum mechanics is a course that is offered to ALL undergraduate and graduate level students in Physics, Chemistry and Electrical Engineering. Consequently, every year a very large number of students study Quantum Mechanics. Thus, there is a big market for books on Quantum Mechanics and for this reason, there are many textbooks on Quantum Mechanics which are already available. So, the obvious question is that with so many good books already available, why should one change to this book? The book by Ghatak and Lokanathan is being extensively used in India and in spite of the fact that inexpensive Indian editions of almost all good books on Quantum Mechanics are available, a large number of universities in India have changed over to use this book as the main text primarily due to the following reasons: Because of what has been mentioned above, the book could be used as a successful text at many universities in Europe, Canada and USA.
