She draws upon her recent ancestry from Yoruba land, England and Wales, and more ancient origins in Spain, Portugal and China, to tell stories from both the world of folktales and contemporary life. She has written many Anna Hibiscus Racing Read titles and has a new series entitled No. 1 Car Spotter. She lives in Newport, Pembrokeshire with her husband and two sons.
