Atinuke is a traditional oral storyteller, and the author of over 30 books for children. Most of Atinuke’s books are set on the amazing African continent where she spent her childhood in the country of Nigeria. Atinuke is the author of the best selling fiction series Anna Hibiscus, as well theThe No.1 Car Spotter and Too Small Tola series. Atinuke also writes picture books - including the bestselling Baby Goes to Market illustrated by Angela Brooksbank. Her non-fiction book Africa, Amazing Africa is illustrated by Mouni Fedeg, and Brilliant Black British History is illustrated by Kingsley Nebechi. Atinuke currently lives in wonderful Wales, where one of her latest books is set - Beti and the Little Round House illustrated by Emily Hughes. Hugo is such a wonderful story, with equally beautiful illustrations, showing children that friends can be found all over and with all kinds of people. It shows that it’s good to reach out to the people around you and the importance of community. I think now more than ever that’s a really strong message.
