    Beskrivning

With laboratory animals, especially rabbits, playing such an important role in biomedical research, the humane care of these animals is an ongoing concern. The Laboratory Rabbit, Second Edition presents basic information and common procedures in detail to provide a quick reference for caretakers, technicians, and researchers in a laboratory setting. Now in full color, the second edition of this book illustrates management practices and technical procedures with numerous figures and tables. It includes updated tables on anesthetic agents, methods of euthanasia, recommended needle sizes, injection sites, approximate values for injection, and sedative and immobilization agents. Plastic comb-bound for convenient and frequent use, this guide also provides sources and suppliers of additional information on rabbits, feed, and sanitation supplies.

    Recensioner i media

"In conclusion, this book was easy to follow, informative, and described important techniques used in daily activities with rabbits in greater detail. I recommend this book as a helpful guide for any persons interested in rabbit care and medicine. It is written in such a fashion that anyone from a high school student up to a laboratory animal veterinarian can use it and learn something new and interesting about using rabbits in research."—Jenelle Johnson, DVM, Purdue University, Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, March 2011"The second editions of The Laboratory Swine and The Laboratory Rabbit are enhanced with full color illustrations. Both books have an extensively updated section on anesthesia, analgesia and use of humane techniques in animal research. ... Both new additions are valuable additions to the laboratory animal library collection."—Nanette Kleinman, writing in ACLAM Newsletter, September 2010
