Dr. Edward (Ted) Ball is Chief of the Division of Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) at the University of California, San Diego. He is a Professor of Medicine and Program Leader for Translational Oncology at the Cancer Center. Dr. Ball's research has focused on the development and clinical application of monoclonal antibodies for the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia. He was the first to treat patients with acute myelogenous leukemia with monoclonal antibodies. He is currently focusing on the use of antibodies with clinical application in both acute and chronic myelogenous leukemia.Alex Kagan is currently being treated by Dr Edward Ball at Moores Cancer Center at the University of California in San Diego. He was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) at the age of 21 in June of 2003. Since being treated with Gleevec he has been in remission for over 4 years. He is living a normal, healthy life in San Diego, California.
