    This story is available in different editions; the first edition which I bought a few years ago, was a touching story of a - for me - fellow countryman and the love for horses and his family. it was an easy read, almost as for children. I lost that book, I think I lent it to someone and did not get it back and because I loved the story so much, I wanted the book back on my book shelves and bought it again.
    This edition turned out to be a for more in-depth version, with an incredible amount of background information on the American class society just after WOII.
    I am very glad that I lost the first, easy-read edition, because this version does not only tell the incredibly and touching story of a very special horse and a Dutch family with strong values, but also gives a wealth of information about the history of horses in the US, and the American culture and society over a couple of decades.
    Anyone who loves horses, should read this book.
