Polish Film Studios and Film Units

During its history in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, Poland was not on the map of Europe; then it regained independence; after the Second World War it was a communist state; and after 1989 it again became a democratic country. Film studios and film units in Poland therefore also functioned within various economic systems, cultural contexts, film industries models, social moods, artistic and production strategies, and technological possibilities. This book explores their history, and how the different political and economic contexts within Poland have affected film production through the years.
