Relevance of Newman in a "Post-Christian" World

Keith Beaumont obtained a Ph.D. in French Literature in 1971 and taught at the University of Leicester, UK, from 1970 to 1991. He was received into the Catholic Church in 1986 and was ordained a Priest of the French Oratory in 1996. He has taught at several Catholic universities in France and preached numerous retreats. He is the author of a dozen books on Newman's thought and especially his spirituality. He served as President of the Association française des Amis de Newman and editor of its annual review, Études Newmaniennes, for 11 years. He is now the Association's Honorary President. Robert C. Christie is President of the St. John Henry Newman Association (formerly the Newman Association of America) and has served on its Board of Directors for twenty years. He is also the editor of the Association's newsletter. His doctoral dissertation was a study of the conversions of John Henry Newman, under the direction of Newman scholar Avery Cardinal Dulles, S. J. He was formerly Professor of Philosophy and Religion at DeVry University, USA, and is the former Executive Director of the National Institute of Newman Studies. He has written widely on John Henry Newman. His most recent work is the editorship of John Henry Newman: Preserving and Promulgating His Legacy (2020), to which he also contributed as an author.
