ROBERT DORAN is Professor of French and Comparative Literature at the University of Rochester and an Affiliate Faculty member in the Music Theory Departmentat the Eastman School of Music. RALPH LOCKE is Emeritus Professor of Musicology, Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, NY. He is the series editor of the University of Rochester Press' series Eastman Studies in Music.
