She also co-founded an e-book company and was the executive director of a large nondenominational church. Carter is active in business, education, and civic affairs, having served on many boards in the higher education, nonprofit, television, and healthcare industries. Carter received her juris doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in economics from Wheaton College. She resides in Orem, UT.
