To celebrate his tercentenary, Free Verse is an anthology of poems responding to the legacy & ideas of freethinker Dr Richard Price (1723−91) which both scrutinise & channel his legacy as one of the most undervalued architects of the modern world.
Damian Walford Davies was born in Aberystwyth in 1971. He has published four previous collections with Seren, ‘Suit of Lights’ (2009), ‘Witch’ (2012) ‘Judas’ (2015) and ‘Docklands’ (2019), and has also edited a collection of R. S. Thomas’s poems ‘Poems for Elsi’ (2013). His other poetry books include the co-written ‘Whiteout’ (2006); a pamphlet, ‘Alabaster Girls’ (2015), and the libretto ‘A Mare’s Tale’ (Grey Mare). He is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Cardiff University, and a fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.
