'Like the classic tale "The Gingerbread Man", this cumulative story relies on repetition and rhythm... Children will gobble this one up and ask for more.' -- Kirkus Reviews'What elevates this simple tale is the beautiful watercolor illustrations that are vivid, highly detailed, and give readers a sense of place. Children will almost hear the leaves rustling in the wind and smell ripening apples in the trees as the animals crash through the autumn forest.'-- School Library Journal'A repetitive story with a lovely rhythm. This book... has the same joyful quality as the Gingerbread Man.'-- Kindling'Attractive watercolor and colored pencil drawings emphasize the pancake and its parade of predators, pulling the eye horizontally across the scenes as the chase comically proceeds. This was a cute and playful story... It would make a good read aloud'-- Youth Services Book Review'A silly and fun retelling of a beloved classic. Adults will enjoy revisiting this story, and children will laugh as the pancake manages to escape everyone trying to just grab a bite of it.'-- YA Books Central'The art is lovely and the cast nicely updated and diverse. A must-have if you do any kind of stories or storytelling with folktales.'-- Flying Off My Bookshelf'Illustrated in vibrant colours and with a cheeky runaway pancake as the protagonist, this playful story with rhythmic text will get your children engaged and smiling for sure!'-- thekidsbookstagrammer (Instagram)'The cumulative elements throughout the story make this a fun read... that had my boy giggling at the absurdity of the boastful pancake being put back in its place.' -- Storybook_mamma (Instagram)'A colourful and modern retelling of a well known classic and it had us giggling from beginning to end!... Definitely one that we will read over and over again.'-- Mum of Boys Northeast (Instagram)'Delightful watercolour illustrations add a fresh feel to this old favourite.'-- Picture Book Pile Angela (Instagram)
