James Tracy was Professor of History at the University of Minnesota from 1966 to 2009. He was also editor of the Journal of Early Modern History (1997 – 2010), and has taught at the Rijksuniversiteit te Leiden, the Sorbonne, and the Universiteit van Amsterdam.
