Faith Gibson OBE, AM BA BEd is Emeritus professor of social work, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. She returned to live in Australia after many years in the UK and has a long-time interest in teaching, researching, practicing and writing about reminiscence and life story work. Mary Marshall is a social worker who has worked with older people for most of her professional career. She was the director of the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling from 1989 until she retired in 2005, and now writes and lectures in dementia care. Mary chaired the steering group for the new dementia standards in Scotland.

The volume has ambitious scope and covers almost all potential supports and services. Most of the chapters have been written by professionals who work with people with dementia and their families, and most are British social workers and professionals allied-to-medicine (occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy).
