The first of a detailed three-volume analysis of the US Army in World War II. The United States contributed much larger numbers of men and material than any other "western" ally, and bore the brunt of the fighting in Europe and the Pacific in the latter stages of the War. This volume concentrates on the central and south-west Pacific and CBI (China, Burma, Indian theatre). It lists the divisions which fought in the theatre with basic organization details. In addition it covers the US summer dress uniform along with tropical field uniforms, camouflage uniforms and personal equipment.

Mark R Henry is a lifelong student of military history and an experienced re-enactor of many periods. He served in the US Army as a signals officer from 1981-90, in Germany, Texas and Korea. He holds a BA degree in History. He has previously written Men-at-Arms 327: US Marine Corps in World War I.Mike Chappell retired as RSM of the 1st Battalion The Wessex Regiment (Rifle Volunteers), after seeing service in Malaya, Cyprus, Swaziland, Libya, Germany, Ulster and home garrisons. He began painting military subjects in 1968 and since then has gained worldwide popularity as a military illustrator. Mike has also written and illustrated many books in the Osprey Military list.
