"This collection of essays succeeds where it matters most; in deepening understanding of human experience, and conveying the joyfulness of the discovery." Bealoideas 2001 "The articles vary enormously in subject, across the range of heritage from food to dreams in Old Norse and Old Irish literature, to the connections between stories in different countries ... This kind of stuff isn't just interesting for heritage fans, it is also useful as gardening knowledge learned over time." Books Ireland March 2002 "This collection of 28 papers constitutes a representative selection of all the topics and fields of folklore-related topics that has characterized Bo Almqvist's work ... Moreover, this is a typographically beautiful book." Ethnologia Scandavica Vol 32 2002 "Readers interested in Ireland, Iceland, Scandinavia and North-Western Europe, Old Norse language and literature, folklore, legends, proverbs, worldview and Almqvist will thoroughly enjoy this tribute to Almqvist, with its many interesting, well written and thoroughly documented research essays."
