One of the most written-about figures in Welsh cultural life, Ed Thomas was born in Abercraf in 1961. He is the founder member of Y Cwmni and later Fiction Factory where he has worked as a writer, director and producer. His plays have toured widely in the UK, Europe and Australia. His work in theatre has earned numerous wards: including, Time Out/01 For London, BBC Wales Writer of the Year, Arts Foundation Fellowship Award, and Celtic Film Festival and BAFTA Cymru Awards.
