University Island

István Vörös was born in Budapest in 1964. He is the author of twenty-five collections of poetry, four collections of short stories, three novels, and three books of essays. He published thirty plays in two books and six books of his translations from Czech. His writings have been translated into over 20 languages, including his novel Thomas Mann's Overcoat in Ottilie Mulzet's English translation. Vörös has been awarded numerous prizes, among them the Attila József Prize, the Hubert Burda Prize and the Premia Bohemica prize. He is the editor of the longest running Hungarian literary magazine, the Vigília. He lives in Budapest.Ágnes Lehóczky has published published six poetry collections in the UK, most recently Apropos Paradise Square: On a Literature of Consolation (Pamenar Press, 2025). She has also published three full poetry collections in Hungarian and co-translated The Song of the Cosmos – Attila József: Selected Poems with Adam Piette. She is the Programme Convenor of the MA in Creative Writing and Director of the Centre for Poetry and Poetics at the University of Sheffield. She lives in Sheffield.Adam Piette is a poet, professor at the University of Sheffield, and the co-editor of the poetry journal Blackbox Manifold. His academic work includes editing the special issue of Translation and Literature *on “Modernism and Translation”** and *The Edinburgh Companion to Twentieth-Century British and American War Literature with Mark Rawlinson (2012). His poetry is published as the pamphlet nights as dreaming, the collection CCCLXV and, most recently, Lies Blurring Here (Broken Sleep Books, 2026). He lives in Sheffield.
