Gina McGavin is an accomplished businesswoman and educator with an extensive professional background in Health and Social Care and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Her work is defined by a 40-year pursuit of justice that began with a professional writer’s course in 2002, long before the recent documentaries. Years before the case was reopened.In 2013, she self-published "Diamonds and Pearls" with the sole purpose of reviving her mother’s 1984 cold case. To coincide with the launch, she personally walked the square mile of Partick in the early hours of the morning, posting flyers with the book's synopsis through letterboxes. Her goal was to reach residents who might still live in the area, hoping to "jog memories" and reach those who might have information.This grassroots effort led to her engaging with The Times and resulted in the Cold Case Team re-opening the investigation in 2014. While she has contributed to major documentaries for the BBC, Sky, Woodcut, and Firecrest, she remains the only author of her story. She uses her business acumen to ensure that her mother’s legacy and her own 40-year journey are handled with total professional integrity. When her Mothers Cold case was reopened, she removed Diamonds and Pearls from Amazon. She considered it as "Job Done." Little did she know that the cold team investigation would lead her onto further personal investigation, in search for the "whole truth".Jane Hamilton has been an award-winning crime reporter for 25 years. She started as a volunteer writer with a local freesheet until she graduated with a degree in Radio Broadcasting. She was a general reporter at the Edinburgh Evening News before becoming their Crime Reporter. It’s been crime ever since and there isn’t a national newspaper in Scotland she hasn’t written for or a major crime story she hasn’t worked on. Her job has taken her all over the world and she worked with the US Marshals on an international fugitive hunt. She has solved a decades old cold case murder and was instrumental in a 35-year-old murder being solved by police. She is known for her investigations into serial killers Peter Tobin and Bible John. Her work on Tobin helped police during Operation Anagram. Her work has changed laws including the rules for multiple post mortems on homicide victims and changes to the way methadone is prescribed in Scotland after her investigations uncovered the death of Scotland’s youngest victim aged two. She left The Daily Record in 2022 after her second eight-year-stint as their crime reporter. She is now freelancing as a journalist and broadcaster and published a best-selling book of fiction short stories last year. Jane has appeared in many true crime documentaries including multiple episodes of Killer in My Family, Britain’s Most Evil Killers, David Wilson’s Crime Files, The Limbs in the Loch, Forensics: Catching The Killer and many more.
