Kingdom of Sicily 1130-1266

This is the first major work dedicated to the general history of the Kingdom of Sicily during the reigns of its first dynasties. At 900 pages, this volume includes a lengthy bibliography, over 1300 detailed endnotes, dozens of genealogical tables and maps, a detailed timeline, a glossary, various original texts such as the Treaty of Benevento (of 1156), the full text of both codices of the first legal code (the Assizes of Ariano of 1140), the lengthiest poem in the medieval Sicilian language (composed by Cielo of Aclamo around 1235), and information on sources, research and historiography. This is a valuable reference work and a fascinating read.
