    Beskrivning

There have been many books written about negotiation techniques but all of these have been turned on their head by the ability of Donald Trump to make it to the White House. Ignoring all precedents and defying even his own party, he has opened an era where neither tradition nor precedent remains the order of the day. Fake news has become the entertainment watchword in an era where a president can send out his own daily tweets to millions of followers and the world press, and no one is able to preempt his message or know how to respond. In what would be described negotiation madness, Trump incites confrontation into intransient situations: opening an American embassy in Jerusalem and provoking a North Korean leader by a silly name, which nevertheless still initiates first-time discussions between north and south. If he doesn’t get his wish through Congress, he pretends to give up, plays the man not the issue, going against what all the negotiation books tell you, then comes in again to get what he wants. At every turn the standards of negotiation need to be rewritten in what has become as much politics as entertainment, ego rather than substance, and this is what is targeted in Peter Nelson’s Negotiation Madness.

    Mer om författaren

Peter Nelson was born in Vienna during the Second World war where he was separated from his family to finish as an undocumented migrant in Australia to be brought up having to find a path for himself. Attending a leading public school where he excelled in sport, he became the head Under Officer in School Cadets, while at the same time running a used car yard in his spare time to provide for his financial needs. Never formally adopted, Peter continued as a Staff Cadet at the Royal Military College Duntroon, did not relish the killing and after acceptance in Medicine at Adelaide University found there were too many sick people so changed to Economics at Sydney University. To finance this endevour, he established a number of companies including an advertising agency and real estate franchise using that experience to charge others to do the same. Qualifying with Price Waterhouse he established his own accounting and consulting business which he has now successfully run for many years working on paid assignments in 53 countries. Specialisation has been in regard to advising governments on financial management through agencies such as the UN, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the EU as well as other bi-lateral aid agencies. As a pilot he has flown around Australia, Africa and Asia, driven from Cape Town to Cairo and raced his yacht on major international races. During a career from rags to riches he has shared his negotiation techniques lecturing around the globe demonstrating how anything is possible if you just know how.
