Brenda Smith Myles, PhD, formerly a professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas, is the recipient of the Autism Society of America’s Outstanding Professional Award, the Princeton Fellowship Award, American Academy of Pediatrics Autism Champion, and two-time recipient of the Council for Exceptional Children Burton Blatt Humanitarian Award.Ann M. Cheverton is a nurse executive and National Certified Dementia Practitioner with extensive experience in senior living, assisted living, memory care, home health, hospice, and community-based services. Since beginning her senior living work in 1996, she has supported programs that promote safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life for older adults. Concerned about the growing number of aging baby boomers and how seniors will be cared for at home and in the community, Ann’s recent work has explored how wearable technology can help identify risks, alert caregivers to changes, and support real-time location awareness when wandering is a concern. She is passionate about helping seniors age in place and guiding families caring for loved ones with dementia.
