    Beskrivning

This edited collection affirms the joy of engaging theologically in interdisciplinary dialogue from a Nordic perspective. In tribute to Danish Professor of Systematic Theology Niels Henrik Gregersen (1956-), editors Bo Kristian Holm, Else Marie Wiberg Pedersen, Mikkel Gabriel Christoffersen, and their contributors affirm interdisciplinary dialogue as a fundamental avenue for Nordic theology to reach the world. Theology, to Gregersen, is a dynamic, context-sensitive, and interdisciplinary practice, which aims to help us understand reality as God’s reality. Organized around four key dialogues (Theology, Method, and Science; Scandinavian Creation Theology; Deep Incarnation; Theology in Society), the essays herein revitalize such conversations between theology and interdisciplinarity begun by Gregersen, prompting readers to consider what we might gain by bringing theology “into the world.” Juxtaposing theology with quantum mechanics, ecology, and education, to name a few, Holm, Pedersen, and Christoffersen reveal how theology provides vital insights when placed within non-theological, scholarly contexts. At its core, this edited collection proliferates a central message of Gregersen’s scholarship, contending that the spirit of Nordic Lutheranism offers unique interventions within global theological and non-theological dialogues.

    Recensioner i media

Nordic Lutheranism has often emphasized the value of creation. In the theological imagination of Niels Henrik Gregersen, this long tradition has produced new and unexpected fruits, reaching from Danish public theology to the mysteries of deep incarnation. The present volume studies this rich imagination from critical and constructive perspectives.
